Do You Belive In Ghosts? | Religion And Philosophy

I had a run-in with a ghost in Exmoor - I was trying to walk from Lynton to Minehead, got lost and ended up out on the moor as darkness fell - made it to a church and slept in the church porch.  Got woken by one in the middle of the night and I still get a "knotted" feeling in my stomach when I remember it.

They definitely exist, don't know what they are though!

Yes of course they exist. Spirit exists around us all the time. Why do you ask?

In reply to the last users post. Funnily enough I walked from Minehead to Lynton, but I didnt see any ghosts there. By the way Exmoor is beautiful! My name is John also! lol

I don't believe in the supernatural, I just reckon there is plenty of stuff we don't understand yet in the physical world

I saw the' Bluebell Hill 'ghost many years ago, Nr Maidstone, Kent.
It was the floatily dressed Edwardian woman who flits across the road adjacent to where the old Roman Rd crossed the road up the hill.
Ley lines cross there too, apparently
I looked in the mirror after trying to avoid 'her'- and nothing there. Thankfully!  But it was dark
It wasn't till I saw a article on TV that I remembered it -after moving away- so it wasn't something I 'dined off'  for years, either!
So ,Yes- they do exist- but possibly in the mind of the beholder, more than anything- but reacting to 'something'.

I have a feeling that there are a number of beings on these websites ,that ,in fact have no solid existence !

I often live in a cave on a beach ,not easily accessible . And one moonless night a few years ago ,i woke to hear children's voices . Then suddenly a girls voice asked for water right next to me ,although there was nobody there . I was really scared ,i must admit ,even though i thought I might have been dreaming whilst awake.
  I did even wonder for a week or two if I was losing my marbles , but nothing similar has happened before or since .
However ,i still feel a bit nervous ,whenever sleeping out around the new moon.

I have had a few encounters with ghosts but the most notable involved my daughter. At the age of about 18 months when my then wife and I were putting her to bed she said `goodnight daddy, goodnight mammy, goodnight lady'. Scary or what?

my husband passed away before my grand daughter was born but when she is put to bed my son often hears her talking to `pops` even though she had never met him,i often feel that he is close even though some people would say that is just wishfull thinking.

Yes, I too have met a ghost. Definitely, without question, it was about 17:30 on a winter's evening in Devon and it was the ghost of a relative who had died recently in that house. I recognised him and he recognised me, he had died with a troubled mind - I assured him that the matter was now settled. He never came back.

I have also seen a demon - but only a brief glimpse. I never want to see it again.

yea my broyher who died 5years ago is still here , he did not like xmas cards thought it a waste of money since he deid evey cristmas and cards are up its like a hand justs sends them flying off the mantle even the ones thats tucked in overthe pic frames fly off. also the dog and cat takes notice of the chair he used to sit in and stare at it as if he sitting in it .things move about one minite its there then it gone only to be back later

I know i must be hitting my head against a brick wall sometimes because some people dont believe!, but i do believe they exsist!, i was on holiday in wales 1 yr on a working farm that had a b n b~ with my then husband! and in the evening we were relaxing in the lounge when the latch on the door that leads upstairs clicked undone and the door came open!, we bad a look an no1 was there, this happend on a number of occations even though we made sure that it was properly closed!, we even saw some1 walk into the pantry from the lounge when we were the only one's there. so yes i totaly believe!  but will say i'm not a religious person at all!!!...

Hi i have had quite a few to really go on about but most recently i was in a friends house  an old terrist and i watched an women of about mid fortys walk passed a door way in to the kichen area, i also have some one that wakes me in the night sometimes ,im asleep but there face to face with me and shouting loadly at me. people dont like me talking about ghosts and things they think its weired,but i love it,got lots more if any one wants to listen.

I still feel my cat jump on to the bed at night even though it is years since she passed on. Maybe it is in my mind but maybe it isn't.....

never seen a ghost,and would'nt like to.but I do beleive in them,there lost souls... have experienced,someone running up my stairs late at night,when im in bed,and found no one there,now thats spooky!!!

i no 100% that they do excist, i have lived in homes that all have had a sprit or more in it, at the moment i live in a flat in kent which has a male spirt in it. he is  not harmful but wen i selfharmed not so long bk he did smash my dishes in the kitchen while me n my girl was sat in my bedroom, and last saturday i wasnt feeling well n i heard him say "why" which scared the cat as she was in the hallway at the time. i have never bn scared of them i hear them , feel them. as ii grow up my parents wod take me to veiw propertys, 1 place they looked at i couldnt go near the door or the window at the side of the place, wen my dad asked bout it he was told the gamekeeper shot himself in that room.              i love them i never bn harmed nore have any off my kids.

YES I DO WILL TEL YOU December 1st 2008 moved into shelterd acomadation , Croftside House number 16 ,all O.K till night time evry night my left tow was niped shocked this went on sevral nights . As I sleep with all windows open thought was this a cat put flour on windowsills no footprints toled coodenator she sed a lady pased away in bath that night befor I sed my prays I sed winny if you do not tuch my tow tonight I no you need help I will get it for you ( my toe was not tuched that night prais be to GOD)  I then got in contackt with minister She came out blesed flat sed prays with me for Winny and anyone else that was traped in building.

Hi.  In Edinburgh vaults recently on a ghost tour our party were told that the most haunted vault had poltergeist activity and we could enter the vault if we wanted to, although our guide didn't recommend it.  Two girls and myself went in and one of the girls took a couple of photos.  Nothing seemed to happen in the vault, but when we came out and looked at the photos there were a number of faces on there, also a wispy, white mist with the figure of a lady.  They were very clear and it was a very spooky experience, but also very enjoyable.  I love the Most Haunted live shows and am looking forward to Ghosthunting with the Happy Monday's in the Autumn.

Agreed, but I'm determined to change all that when I die. There are plenty of bastards around who deserve a good haunting !
