Does anyone like oldies? i just thought to myself how old is old. Are songs of the 90s old? I've been listening to Beatles recently, and find myself really addicted. My fav at the moment is  In my life. Over to you!

Well, I listen to music nearly all of the time, a very big passion for me. So what makes an old song old? I don't think that that the date a song was written is the be all and end all of the matter. I think what makes a song old is relative (ok, enough psychobabble).
For a teenager who just discovers, say Elvis for example, they now have a massive collection of 'new' songs to listen to. In contrast, I hear 'new' songs on the radio that are good, but they get played to death every day making them more a form of torture and they soon become 'old hat'.
I've recently downloaded a lot of Tamala Motown for my iPood and they sound refreshing and great. Still technically old songs, but sound new again to me.

"Candy Man" by Mississippi John Hurt.
The recording I have was pressed (remember the glories of vinyl?) in 1985, dates back to his rediscovery as an old man in the '60s and the song itself probably dates from the '30s.
And no, I didn't see his first set !

If Elvis Presley did a version then obviously it was blessed by the king himself... So obviously it's amazing
Love Simon and Garfunkel too

I'm an inveterate Beatles fan.  If you like them then you owe it to yourselves to look up the impressionist Stevie Riks.  There are many **** channels with quite reverent parodies on the fab four.  If you didn't know already, you will wet yourself laughing.

Favourites come and go, depending on mood, company and any number of other factors. I'm happy to go along with Fats Domino at pretty well any time.

One of my other current favourites is Dr Hook's "The Ballad of Lucy Jordon".

Offering a girl a "ride through Paris in a sports car with the warm wind in her hair" can be quite effective.

Unfortunately the song does not end on such a happy thought.
