lots and lots of posts and threads on this one, check a few out...................in the meantime, get using the blogs and forum, seems to be the way to get chatting to other folk.

We're already planning a wedding on one of the blogs..............you never know, next one may be you!

im finding the blogs good, some get ignored but others dont, only friendship at the moment but i think its good for practicing general banter then hopefully more will join in

Welcome to the forum BC. Don't despair, i've been on here since march, and not a sniff . But i'm just starting to get involved on the forum, and it seems a good way of getting to know a few people. You get more of an idea about real personalities than you do from some of the "standard" profiles as well. Enjoy

Don't forget if we are only a *standard* member we can't reply to emails here anyway, and there seems to be a few standard members.  So don't let a lack of replies get you down.  Enjoy the forums.

Thank you for your replies. So there is more chance in talking to people on here. Sorry, if this as been covered before, l'll do a bit more checking, in future. Mind you it is frustrating, though. Its much harder that what l first thought though, just to start chatting to someone, using someone profile. But if it was easy, then there wouldnt be a site.

As Miz said, a lot of people are standard members so can't even read emails, let alone respond. So it doesn't give those who like to read first and then subscribe to respond much of a chance.

However, you don't have to be a paid up member to use the blogs and forum...........and they do seem to be increasing in popularity. I think a lot of people would agree, that these media give a much better idea of what the individual is like rather than a list of likes and dislikes on a profile.

The trick is, you have to use them!!! So get blogging

Absolutely WiW, strangely enough I said that to a guy I was chatting with the other night, I told him to look up my blogs and forum posts and he'd get a much better idea of my personality. Just need to get more members to actually use these!

I've had pretty much the same sort of experience as you, BC, **** and a couple of gay blokes who didn't read my profile (I'm sort of flattered, but not interested), but I think the trick is not to get disheartened. You come across as an honest, genuine sort of chap with a personality-these are good traits. You are deffo doing the right thing getting involved with the forums. I may not have found a partner yet but I'm having loads of fun on here!

Thanks FB6, l have just had 3 more this morning, but soon as you mention, do they have a web cam, there are on the back foot, andstart saying they cant afford it/go no money, and will buy one for them - but send the money etc. The start to unravel, making more excuses, for reasons they need money. lmfindingiteasier to spot them now. But still waiting for miss/mrs right, one day

SERIOUSLY, mate, do not reply to these people at all, not even to ask if they have a webcam. There are scams which involve using your computer terminal for nefarious purposes, e.g. raiding your email account for addresses, of which you are unaware and which do not impact on you directly. Obviously, I don't have to tell you that the more you deal with these scum the more likely you are to let slip details of your own personal stuff, and they've got thier teeth into you. Report them to DTUK Admin even if you are just suspicious of them.

The good news is that they are fairly easy to spot. This is a UK site, so anything from outside the UK is nessessarily suspect. Outside the UK includes anything from somewhere called 'St Cuthbert Out'. In fact, I'd say be suspicious of any location you don't recognize-that may be paranoia but remember they ARE out to get you! Then you quickly learn to spot the spelling/syntax errors of someone who is not used to using English as a first language. Now there may be genuine folk from abroad on here looking for partners, but they will not be using phrases like 'how long god take to make such angel', 'love you all my life' and such over the top tosh.

The photo of an attractive young girl pretending to be from Russia/Eastern Europe is another giveaway. It is obviously professionally taken in a studio with proper lighting and background, likely a stock shot from somewhere, whereas you are looking for a photo like your own, taken with a webcam or by an **** and uploaded. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it is. Always.

Another dead cert **** is the girl who points out in her first contact that her mother or some other relative lives somewhere in Africa. This is to 'groom' you to send her cash when the 'mother' becomes 'sick' and medication needs paying for. Don't fall for the guilt trip, these people don't actually exist except in the form of Nigerian or Ghanaian criminal gangs looking for suckers.

Just read all that back to myself before submitting it, and I can't believe how Daily Mail I sound! I'm actually not in the least xenophobic, except when it comes to the internet when I have to be for my own protection.

Don't get caught, don't reply, block them immediately and report them so that admin can do something about it. Don't give up looking for a real partner and if she's got a sister, tell her about me... good luck, BC!

Ah..the old 'nigerian' eh! I first came across that when I was 17 and went to work for a bank, it was old **** by then as well. An oldie but seemingly a goody!!

Tbh, Rocks, I've come across it on every site I've tried. Think maybe guys are more vulnerable, or more targeted anyway, than women by this, goes a little (a very little) way to making up for the sh*t you girls have to put up with from Merlot and his ilk.

Worries me that BC has responded to them though. Hope he hasn't been ripped off-he seems a decent sort with a good nature to take advantage of.

BTW, perhaps he saw your photo. Your figure is a long way off bad.
